Lakadong is India's high-curcumin turmeric: grown around Lakadong village in Meghalaya's Jaintia Hills, and protected by a Geographical Indication registration (No. 741, 2024). Our own FSSAI lab report on this crop puts it at 7.90% total curcuminoids — nearly four times the 2.0% the standard asks for. We procure it directly from hill farmers in the North-East, sun-dried and ground whole. Deep gold in colour and strong in aroma, it is traditionally valued for its immunity-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties — in haldi doodh, in kadha, or anywhere you want turmeric to carry real weight.

Old wisdom, stronger raw material
Everything Ayurveda says of haridra — warming, purifying, a daily protector — assumes potent turmeric, and Lakadong is traditionally valued for exactly that: immunity-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties. Tradition also pairs haldi with fat and black pepper, and modern understanding agrees: curcumin absorbs best with both.
